A chill wind swept through the heart of Babel last night, but none was colder than the fear gripping the capital as the venerable prophet, Daniel, was thrown into the infamous den of roaring lions. Yet, as dawn broke, what transpired defied all reason and echoed the very power of the Creator of the universe. Against all expectation, Daniel emerged unharmed, his skin unbroken, his spirit unshaken – a living testament to the awe-inspiring protection of Yahweh. The king himself, a bewildered witness, has issued an unprecedented decree that will forever alter the course of empires.
The shocking events unfolded following a sinister plot devised by jealous satraps and administrators within King Darius’s court. These officials, resentful of Daniel’s unparalleled wisdom (chokmah) and favor with the king, cunningly manipulated the monarch into signing an irreversible decree: for thirty days, no man could petition any deity or king save Darius himself. Daniel, renowned for his unwavering devotion, refused to bow to this earthly mandate, continuing his thrice-daily prayers to Yahweh in his chamber in Yerushalayim (Jerusalem).
Eyewitnesses near the royal palace recounted the grim procession yesterday evening. 'His face was serene,' whispered an elderly woman, her voice trembling. 'As they led him, Daniel’s gaze was fixed heavenward, not on the gaping maw of the beast's pit.' King Darius, described as deeply distressed, had been powerless to avert the execution, bound by his own unchangeable law (dath). 'May your Elohim, whom you serve continually, deliver you!' the king reportedly exclaimed with a heavy leb (heart) as the stone was rolled into place.
As the first rays of light pierced the eastern sky this morning, King Darius, who had spent a sleepless night fasting, rushed to the den. His trembling voice echoed into the darkness, 'Daniel, servant of the living Eloah, has your Elohim, whom you serve continually, been able to deliver you from the lions?' And from the depths, a calm, clear voice responded, 'O King, live forever! My Eloah sent His malach (messenger) and shut the lions’ mouths; they have not hurt me, for I was found innocent before Him; and also, O King, I have committed no offense against you.' A wave of disbelief, then overwhelming jubilation, swept through the royal court.
Theologians and scribes across the empire are scrambling to interpret the profound implications of this miracle. 'This is no mere happenstance,' declared Elder Chaim, a revered scholar of the ancient scrolls. 'The words of the prophet Tehillim (Psalms) echo in our ears: '*𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄* preserves all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy' (Psalms 145:20). Daniel’s deliverance serves as a potent reminder of Yahweh’s absolute sovereignty and His protection over those who walk in His mitzvot (commands).' Others are drawing parallels to the miraculous deliverance of Chananyah (Shadrach), Mishael (Meshach), and Azaryah (Abed-nego) from the fiery furnace, recorded in the very book of Daniel (Daniyel), further solidifying the undeniable truth of Yahweh's power.
In a swift and decisive act, King Darius ordered the immediate arrest and condemnation of the men who falsely accused Daniel. They, along with their families, were cast into the very same lion's den. Tragically, the beasts, having been supernaturally restrained the night before, immediately overpowered them, leaving no doubt about the justice of the Creator. This harrowing display sent a stark message throughout the kingdom: the Creator of Israel is not to be trifled with.
Today, King Darius issued an unprecedented decree (dath) to all peoples, nations, and languages throughout the earth, stating: 'I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble and fear before the Eloah of Daniel. For He is the living Eloah, and steadfast forever; His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed, and His dominion shall endure to the end' (Daniel 6:26-27). This act, stemming from a pagan king's direct encounter with Yahweh's power, signals a monumental shift in the understanding of the one true Eloah across the known world. Will this miracle usher in a new era of faith, or will the world soon forget the roar of the lions and the silence of a faithful man?
